What a movie! I am a huge fan of the original and it is great to see an updated version. The actors are fantastic. This is a blog post about the new sirocco movie, 1987. And for those who haven't seen the original movie (which came out in 1968), I'm sorry to tell you that this is not a remake and has nothing to do with the original. They are completely different. Gabin, reading a letter he has written to her while he is summoning his final spirit guide "at his final hour". She tells it to her grandson, Dr. Paul-Pierre Zanetti (François Berléand) who is about to give an important surgery in Paris. It's about an operation on a two-year-old girl named Noémie Leduc (Nathalie Baye). This is a serious case, and Dr. Paul-Pierre has to be absolutely concentrated. But this is not an easy task for him. He's been working on this new technique for some years now, but his mind keeps going back to the letter he read from his grandfather. The letter was delivered on a silver tray at his hospital bed while he was dying ... of leukaemia . When he arrives home later that evening, he finds out that she has gone into labour, and the birth of the baby is very close. So he sends Mme. Gabin to stay at her flat near by with the baby's new nursemaid (Mireille Darc), while he goes back to work in an attempt to finish this operation soon so he can go home and celebrate his new arrival with everyone.
